This personal data processing/protection policy (hereinafter the “Policy”) provides information regarding the collection, storage, processing and use of your personal data.
The company under the name AthensGoCars Rent a Car (hereinafter the “Company” or “we” or “us”), located at Andrea Zakou 12, Pikermi, P.C. 19009, Greece, tel. 6983844055, email address AthensGoCars.com, acts as Controller, collects, stores, uses and in general processes your personal data. What is personal data; The term “personal data” refers to information concerning natural persons, such as indicative name, address, email address, contact telephone number, etc., which identify or may identify your identity, hereinafter “Personal Data” or “Data”.
What is Processing of Personal Data?
Any act or series of acts carried out with or without the use of automated means, on Data of a personal nature or on sets of personal data, such as collection, registration, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, search of information, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or any other form of disposal, correlation or combination, restriction, deletion or destruction.
Which of your Data do we collect;
We collect only the Data that are absolutely necessary for the service of the purpose for which they were given and are used exclusively and only for the purposes for which they have been collected.
With the exception of any Data collected from Cookies (see more in the Cookies Policy here), the Data are limited to those you have explicitly provided and for a specific purpose and provided you have given your consent. Also, we collect Data during your visit to our website and provided you have consented to this, consent which is documented by the completion of the relevant fields.
3.1. Identity data, such as name, surname, patronymic, date of birth, driving licence, Tax Identification Number, Identity Card Number.
3.2. Communication data/shipping of products, such as postal address, email address (e-mail), telephone number.
3.3. Payment details, such as credit/debit card number, PayPal, bank account number.
3.4. Identification details, such as username, IP address
4. How do we use your Data;
The processing of your Data is carried out either by the Company’s own authorised personnel, either through IT systems and electronic devices by our Company, and exceptionally by third parties, who, having contractually undertaken towards the Company to maintain confidentiality and protect your Data, process them exclusively and only for the purposes for which they have been delivered.
In general, your Data are submitted to processing in order to provide you indicatively with the following services:
4.1. Submission of offer: The Company processes your Data for the submission of an offer for the short-term or long-term rental of a vehicle.
4.2. Car rental: The Company processes your Data in order to fulfil its contractual relationship with you that concerns vehicle rental, to provide vehicle servicing services (such as maintenance, tyre replacement, vehicle repair, etc.), to comply with legal obligations, to defend itself, to bring legal claims.
4.3. Car purchase: The Company processes your Data so that the purchase contract of used vehicles may be completed.
4.4. Compliance with applicable legislation: The Company processes your Data so that it is able to respond to its legal obligations, especially those related to compliance with tax and insurance legislation or the insurance coverage of the vehicle arising from an active leasing contract.
4.5. User account creation: The Company processes your Data in order to provide you with account functions and to facilitate, indicatively, the conclusion of a rental contract or purchase of products and/or services.
4.6. Sending of newsletter: The Company gives you the option, if you wish, to be informed at your email address about promotional/advertising activities of the Company (e.g. for new products and/or services available by us, offers, operation of new vehicle rental stations, tourist offices, etc.).
4.7. Website information services: The Company provides information services to its customers
4.8. Customer loyalty programmes: Through these programmes, the Company offers a σειρά from benefits to its customers, such as, indicatively, service priority at rental stations, more advantageous spaces in the Company’s parking areas, discount coupons, offers, etc.
4.9. Communication: The Company uses your Data to respond to requests/questions that you submit indicatively through the ContactCenter and the contact forms.
4.10. Job search: The Company processes your Data for the evaluation of your qualifications and abilities for the position for which you submit your application or for another position within the Company as well as for reasons of communication with you in relation to that purpose.
4.11. Participation in on-line promotional actions / competitions: The Company processes the Data you fill in for your participation in a competition, where agreed, in order to conduct competitions, notify you if you are the winner of the competition and deliver your gift to you.
4.12. Participation in on-line market research / questionnaires: The Company processes the Data you fill in for your participation in on-line surveys, for example demographic data (age, income, etc.). You may register all the information or nothing, at your choice. The results of the surveys will be used only for the improvement of the characteristics of our website, for our evaluation and consequently the improvement of the services provided to you and for no other purpose.
For what purpose do we process your Data;
We collect your Data for the purposes of the products and/or services provided, indicatively for:
a) the evaluation of your request both for the submission of an offer and for the conclusion of the leasing contract.
b) the management of the lease of the vehicle you selected, e.g. communication and information to you regarding availability, performance of the contract, provision of maintenance, bodywork, repair, replacement, vehicle pickup services, etc., sending of the necessary documents for products you may have purchased or services that may have been provided to you, management of your debts to the Company, processing of returns.
c) compliance with the obligations imposed by the applicable legislation from time to time, e.g. labour, tax and insurance legislation.
d) the control, improvement and adaptation to your preferences and choices regarding products and/or services.
e) the sending, via electronic mail, of information for products and/or services of the Company,
st) customer satisfaction research, promotion of our products and/or services, sending of information about products and/or services to you,
z) the evaluation of applications and CVs for the purpose of possible recruitment in our Company,
h) communication between us in the event of conducting a competition.
What is the legal basis for processing your Data by the Company;
The processing of your Data is carried out in accordance with:
• the terms of our contractual relationship,
• your consent, where required,
• the Company’s obligations arising from the law (e.g. tax, labour, insurance legislation, etc.),
• the Company’s legitimate interest.
Who are the recipients of your Data;
The Company guarantees that it will not proceed to transfer, disclosure, assignment, etc. of your Data to third parties (except those referred to herein) for any purpose or use unless something such is required or imposed by the applicable legislation or is required by public/judicial bodies/authorities.
Access to your Data is held by the absolutely necessary personnel of the Company, who have undertaken the keeping of confidentiality, and by partner companies of ours, which process your Data as Joint Controllers or as Processors on our behalf and according to our instructions.
Indicatively, recipients of your Data are: the company that issues the payroll of our Company’s employees. The insurance companies cooperating with our Company. The users of our marks and systems cooperating with our Company. The tourist offices cooperating with our Company for the rental of vehicles. The companies cooperating with our Company providing repair, bodywork and maintenance services for vehicles leased to our customers. Chartered accountants’ firms auditing the financial statements of our Company. Partner companies for the provision of roadside assistance to drivers who use our Company’s vehicles. The companies managing the global car booking system and located within or outside Europe, with which we will share information relating to your activities with those rented vehicles, which may include personal booking information registered through this application. Your Data will not be used for any other purpose, without your prior notification and consent. How do we ensure that Processors & Sub-processors respect your Data; The Processors carrying out processing on our behalf have agreed and contractually committed with the Company:
• to keep confidentiality,
• not to send your Data to third parties without the Company’s permission,
• to take appropriate security measures,
• to comply with the legal framework for the protection of personal data and especially Regulation 679/2016/EU (otherwise GDPR).
It is possible that Processors, in the performance of their duties, employ other persons, who are called Sub-processors, in which case the Controller must have given authorisation to handle all or part of the processing of the Data. Consequently, the Sub-processor has the same obligations and rights with the Processor, as analysed in this Policy and always within the framework of the duties assigned to it, and bears full liability with the Processor.
When do we delete your Data;
We retain your Data only for as long a period as is required for the fulfilment of the purpose for which you have communicated your Data to us and in compliance with the applicable legislative provisions.
Your declaration of consent for sending a newsletter is kept for as long as a newsletter is sent to you by the Company, unless you choose to discontinue its sending.
The CV data you submit via email for work at the Company are kept for two (2) years, unless you tell us that you wish their retention for a shorter period of time (the shortest time period you can choose is six months from their submission) or their deletion.
The personal data you provide for your participation in customer loyalty programmes are deleted when the duration of the programme expires or when, for reasons of exclusion from the programme or you declare that you wish to stop participating in the programme, as described in the programme’s terms of use.
The Data submitted for processing during your participation in competitions and/or market research are retained for as long a period as is required for the completion of the competition or the research and are subsequently deleted.
Are your Data secure;
The Company undertakes to safeguard your Data.
Recognising the importance of the security of your Personal Data, we have taken all appropriate organisational and technical measures which are continuously improved based on technological developments with the sole purpose of the security and protection of your Data from any form of accidental or improper processing.
What are your rights;
You have the right of access to your personal Data.
This means that you have the right to be informed by us if we process your Data. If we process your Data you can request to be informed of the purpose of processing, the type of Data we hold, to whom we give them, how long we store them, whether automated decision-making takes place, as well as your other rights, such as rectification, deletion of Data, restriction of processing and submission of a complaint to the Personal Data Protection Authority.
You have the right to rectify inaccurate personal Data.
If you establish that there is an error in your Data you can submit to us a request to correct them (e.g. correction of name or notification of address change).
You have the right of deletion/right to be forgotten.
You may ask us to delete your Data if they are no longer necessary for the above-mentioned purposes of processing or if you wish to withdraw your consent in the case where that is the only lawful basis.
You have the right to portability of your Data.
You may ask us to receive in readable form the Data you have provided or ask us to transmit them to another controller.
You have the right to restriction of processing.
You may ask us to restrict the processing of your Data for as long as the examination of your objections regarding the processing is pending.
You have the right to object and to withdraw consent to the processing of your Data.
You may object to the processing of your Data and we will stop processing your Data, unless there are other compelling and lawful grounds overriding your right. If you have given your consent for the collection, processing and use of your personal data, you may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect.

How can you exercise your rights;
In order to exercise your rights you may submit a relevant request to us by sending a letter/application to the postal address of the Company AthensGoCars Rent a Car Andrea Zakou 12, Pikermi P.C. 19009, Greece or to the electronic address of AthensGoCars with the subject “Exercise of Rights” and we will make sure to examine it and reply to you as soon as possible.
By exception:
if you wish to withdraw your consent for sending a newsletter, you may do so by selecting the link “To unsubscribe from the newsletter mailing list click here” found at the bottom of each newsletter.
When do we respond to your Requests;
We respond to your Requests free of charge without delay, and in any case within one (1) month from when we receive your request. However, if your Request is complex or there is a large number of Requests, we will inform you within the month if we need to obtain an extension of another two (2) months, within which we will respond to you.
If your Requests are manifestly unfounded or excessive especially due to their repetitive nature, the Company may impose the payment of a reasonable fee, taking into account the administrative costs for providing the information or performing the requested action or may refuse to continue with the Request.

What is the applicable law regarding the processing of your Data by us;
The applicable law is Greek law, as harmonised with the General Regulation for the Protection of Personal Data 2016/679/EU, as in force, and the applicable national and European legislative and regulatory framework for the protection of personal data.
For any arising disputes related to your Data, the locally competent Greek Courts shall have jurisdiction.
Where can you resort if we violate the applicable law for the protection of your Personal Data;
You have the right to file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Authority (postal address Kifisias 1-3, P.C. 115 23, Athens, tel. 210. 6475600, email contact@dpa.gr), if you consider that the processing of your Personal Data violates the applicable national and regulatory legal framework for the protection of your personal data.
How will you be informed of any amendments to this Policy;
We update this Policy whenever necessary. If there are significant changes to the Policy or the way we use Personal Data, we will publish on our website the update of this Policy, and we will notify you by every appropriate means.
We encourage you to read this Policy regularly so that you know how your Data are protected.
